Hi everyone! Ms. Ducote encouraged me to share a posting about the books I am currently reading or have read so I am not going to be writing about Twilight (although I am going to try and read it--I am fan of the Interview with a Vampire days). A couple of days ago I finished a wonderful book called Made in the USA by Billie Letts. If the name sounds familiar it is because she is the same lady who wrote Where the Heart Is, the story about the girl who has her baby in Wal-Mart. Well, Made in the U.S.A begins in Wal-Mart as well, but this time someone dies there! The death sends two kids, 15 year old Lutie McPhee and her younger brother, Fate, on an amazing journey to finding out the true meaning of family, love, and support. Watch out, this one is a tear jerker at times and very upsetting at times when you see the mess Lutie gets herself into. It is a little PG-13 in parts so keep that in mind before you make your choice. The best thing I liked about the book: it shows that anyone can overcome tremendous adversity. I just love stories like that! Happy Reading!

My daughter's best friend brought her copy of Twilight to me and said," You have to read this book. It's great! It may be the best book I have ever read." She went on about how wonderful this book was. So I asked about the storyline, and she told me it was about vampires. I said, " I don't think so! Thanks, but I think I will pass on this one." I was hesitant because this topic had never been of interest to me. I don't like horror stories, and I assumed that this book would be exactly that! I really wasn't sure I wanted to read this book. So there it sat on my nightstand until I heard our students recommending it too! That sparked my interest, so many people talking about this book. I started reading it, and boy was I wrong in my assumptions. This book wasn't what I expected at all. It was thrilling, unpredictable, and romantic, everything that makes a great book! I couldn't stop reading it. I had to know what was going to happen next. Each chapter was better than the last. Now, I too have joined the crowd. Twilight is a must read. Make sure you don't have anything else to do because you won't be able to put it down. Maybe "Edward" has something to do with the power of this book. Mrs. Harris, PHS Teacher
